I know I need a new lens, and probably a new camera at that, but I was doing a little experimenting tonight...and I realized that the orange eyeliner my dreamsicle has is quite possibly genetic...he has passed it down to his most recent offspring.

He even passed it down to the gecko that never hatched...I opened the egg and took pictures out of curiosity of the morph and what it looked like.

Here's the sire and his orange eyeliner, and his offspring which shows the same traits.

I could post pics of the deceased clutchmate with the eyeliner, but the pics are a little graphic.

Anyways....here's the sire:

His offspring...notice the eyeliner, just like dad!

I think I might be onto something...definately breeding for this trait next season!

Thank you!

While i'm at it, in the last picture, the offspring has a spot inside it's ear, which has not gone away. Do geckos get freckles in thier ears?

Chaz has been trying to work on a "Bell Eyeliner" project and is able to reproduce some nice tangerine color around the eyes. None of them are Enigmas with the eye liner so its not the Enigma trait (in his situation)...however a lot of Enigmas will have coloration around the eyes like that. I would contact Chaz (avangel reptiles) and see what he has found out. If anything I would guess it to be poly-genetic and something that you can improve through selective pairings. Good luck and have fun with that. :)

I have a male that i got from Travis who got it from Chaz(I think, correct me if I'm wrong Travis)that has this trait. It is a tang het bell.I am really curious if it will turn out being genetic.I agree with Travis in that it is most likely poly-genetic.
