My leo has been sick for about a month now and I finally think I have a stool for my vet to use this will be try 3 because nothing has been good enough. How can I keep it fresh enough for him to use everything has been runny and dries to fast before I get to it so I set my alarm every few hours to get this one. I added a drop of water should I do this till I can get to the vet in about 12hrs? Its already in a plastic bag. Thanks for any help

Do not add water to the sample. If you can put it in a zip lock bag and keep it in the fridge that will be good. Is your vet not comfortable with collecting a swab sample in office?

"Is your vet not comfortable with collecting a swab sample in office?" I'm not sure he never mentioned it last time we went to him about 3 weeks ago the sample I brought was too dried out and couldn't be used... He just said we had to wait till my gecko gave us something we could use. Could you look at my other thread about what he is sick with hes on his 3rd and 4th medications and the vet said that if these don't work the best thing to do would be to put him down... I really don't want it to come to that.

Thanks everyone

Just read through your other post. I don't know why a vet would suggest pinkies to an ill gecko. If dietary requirements are suspected of not being met then I would think they would use critical care or something along those lines. As far as the meds most recently prescribed it seems like they are shot gun approaching it if the fecal came back negative and they have no suspected Dx. Have they done any x-rays or ultrasound to look for abnormalities?

"Have they done any x-rays or ultrasound to look for abnormalities?" No to both of these just shining a light against his belly to check it out. He mentioned the pinkies because of the size of my gecko hes rather large about 11in and close to 100g he said no pinkies for normal size leos but my guy may like a small one once or twice a month however I did decide against it.. He's the best recommended reptile vet in the area the 1st I went to I didn't like at all and this guy idk he just seems stumped.
