Feeding and handling questions

Thanks :)

Just another update... Shaz has started eating crickets again! We placed the cricket tub in her vivarium to see if would show an interest and she started stalking it! So we put a cricket in and she went right for it and ate it. We kept giving her more until she'd had 6 then she wandered off into her hut again. Hopefully she's getting back to her normal eating patterns now. Phew!

We also tried putting a meal worm down but she's still giving it a funny look as if to say "what on earth is THAT? Do you expect me to eat it?" so I think she's a cricket-loving girl.

I say keep tyring with the mealworms. Mine was deffinately a "cricket-loving girl". When she finally figured out there was a mealworm bowl in there, it changed instantly. Does the mealworm move around enough when you put it in front of her? Sometimes if you squeeze the mealworm very slightly they wiggle like crazy. That is what caught my leo's attention the first time she ate one.

We have some in a bowl in there and they just kinda lie still most of the time. So I think you're right, they're just not moving enough to make her realise that they're food. I'll try squeezing them (which seems a little cruel but hey, they're food and I guess being eaten alive isn't a walk in the park either). The main thing is that she's back on her food. She comes out and looks for us at 6pm (which is her usualy feeding time) so she knows when lunch time is and is eager for some food.

Try putting the mealies on the hot spot if they aren't already. They move more when they are warm. Also, are you gutloading in the dish or outside the tank? When they have something to eat they almost always move. Just something to try.

We usually gutload outside of the tank so I'll try putting them in a warmer spot and feeding them in the dish. Thanks!
