So, ive had my gecko for over 6 years now. I started him on crickets and mealworms when he was young. Every once and a while i fed him very small pinky mice. Rarely do i feed him waxworms, and ive tried butterworms, but they are too big for him. For the last 3 years or so, ive fed him only superworms which i buy from a local reptile dealer here. I buy a 100 at a time, rarely do you actually get 100 though, hint hint to the manufacturers. So anyways, for that time ive been feeding the worms fruit and vegetables. Like i mean all the greens, carrots, celery, green pepper, rasberries, apples, oranges. None of which are whole of course, usually very small pieces, but enough for all worms to get a bite. In turn my gecko eats the worms and benefits from all of those vitamins. Ive been using the same soil the whole way through, adding new potting soil for the worms when neeeded. Think top compost healthy dark soil, but better. I think the worms have even reproduced, so i leave a couple of the largest ones alone. My gecko goes crazy for the superworms the brightness in his eyes, the colour of his skin, and apparent energy levels were all noticable. After dinner, and only once a week, i'll take a bite of an apple, and hold it in front of him. My gecko licks, and licks, occasionally tries to bite it. From what i can tell he likes it. I tried nectarine last week, he went nuts, he doesnt care for bannana, but he likes raspberries, i gave him the smallest of pieces and you could tell he enjoyed it. From what ive read online this will not harm him. The worms eat the most fruit and veggies, but i dont see why it would hurt if i gave my gecko some of that once and a while. Hopefully though, someone else out there can share their two-bits. Thanks.
