I give them to my gravid females after every other clutch, sometimes after every clutch depending on how far apart the clutch and how well they eat while being gravid. I'll give non breeding adult females and all adult males once a month sometimes every other month. I do not give them to sub-adults. Oh and not all adults like pinkies.

I dont generally feed them, they are very fattening and hard to digest. Also alot of leos wont touch them. If you really want to, you can feed them once in awhile as a treat.

I have fed them to my old boy on occasion, as a treat. When I get back into breeding (especially since we have a mexican rosey boa and therefore pinkies usually around) I plan to see if any of the ones expending the extra effort are interested.

Pinkies should only be fed to full-grown leopard geckos occasionally to give them additional protein, fat and calcium... like toward the end of breeding season when females need a boost. Actually, the majority of my geckos don't even like them, or mame them trying to eat them and then ignore them. This leaves a mortally wounded little pinkie to deal with. Also, the little pinkie screams while being eaten, and it's something that I can't bear to hear or watch.

I guess i am lucky then, all most all of my leo's eat pinkies and thats the only thing they want to eat right now, they wont eat mealworms and crickets thay only like sometimes right now. But im throwing in pinkies every day to some and every other day to the others. Seems that they cant get enuff of them pinkies and its a great thing we breed our own mice.
Thanks Bret

Out of my 6 geckos, I only have two that would eat the pinkies and that happened only once before breeding started....now none of them will touch them, so I have given up on feeding pinkies.

Thats not a great thing... Its a bad thing... Keep up the rodent feeding like that and you will not have any geckos left... Your leos will die of fatty live problems if you keep feeding them like that...

Leos are primarily insectivores... They are not "built" for constant mammalian protein intake...

I NEVER feed my leos pinkies... I never seen anything to make me feel they need it... I guess I am also fortunate enough to have a few females that eat while gravid... Even up until the day they lay eggs...

I still stand by saying that a varied diet is the best diet... No need for me to add rodents to the menu...

Remember, a big fat leo is not a healthy leo...

Agreed, pinkies are not a good everyday meal for a Leo. They are more like something you should feed to them every month or so, even less, or not at all.

I only have one female leo that will eat them, I breed dwarf hamsters for feeders and use them mainly for my pac man frogs and sometimes my pair of tokays.

I have about 5 females that will eat them. I will give them 1 once in a while after they have laid eggs.

One of my male beardies would live on them if you let him.

i have 7 in my collection that will eat pinkies.. I do have one that will mame them and ignore them like Marcia said.. but most of them like them. I usually ask for the smallest ones they have to clear any choking issues and usually only do it once a month if that..

my wife won't watch and I to can't stand the little screams they make..
