Feeding Pinky Mice.

The other day I attempted to give my female pinky mice for the first time.. but she didn't take... She had smelt them and licked them but she never ate them.. One got a strange cut on the top of its head.. whether it was there before or she took a nab at it i'm not sure..

Can anyone tell me why possibly she didn't want these pinkies?

some geckos just dont like them, kinda like some dont like meal worms or crickets. I once had a female that when she smelled a pinky she would get all defensive as if she was scared to death. Maybe try tongs and kinda wiggle it in front of the gecko.

I used my fingers and wiggled it and she would stare for a couple seconds and then stop.. would fingers be a distraction?

well, your fingers are large enough for her to notice them easily, it probably looks to her that a gigantic pink hawk caught a mouse and for some reason, was dangling it in front of her.

Your fingers wont distract your leo much if you hold the pinky so it's in front, like pinched between your fingers.
I use 8'' stainless steel tweezers (a lizard husbandry must!) and its easy to wiggle the food item when you use it.
My leos have come to recognize the tweezers, and when they see them, they get excited because they know something tasty is comming!
It's funny how fast leos make these associations. They are very perceptive.

Haha ya, I was using tweezers a bit ago trying to hold mealies up.. but it didn't make a difference and she ate them anyways without the tweezers.. But I will go buy some nice tweezers.. Thank you!

If it was f/t maybe thats why 90% of my geckos dont like frozen thawed pinkies.
