Yes, it's part of the pregnancy thing. Hopefully after she lays her eggs she'll be pretty hungry.

Some females have an appetite right after they lay, some don't really want to eat until they are finished laying for the season. Unfortunately, some stop eating and never start again after the season is over....that's the major downside to breeding. Losing a female and feeling the guilt over her passing being caused by you breeding her. Good luck and make sure she's getting lots of supplements.

Wow I did not know that. So if that happens, you can't even get them to eat the emergency food (from Fluker's)?
I force fed one for weeks trying to save her but to no avail. It was heartbreaking. That doesn't happen to the majority of females but it does happen and it is something to be aware of.

I had a female that stopped eating after pregnancy too. The vet examined her and she was suffering from a parasite. Perhaps the pregnancy is more stressful than I thought lowered her immunesystem. She is doing fine now, but I won't let her breed again this season...

I'm terribly sorry :(
It's definitely something I wasn't aware of before, so thank you for sharing.

When we all share our bad experiences as well as the good ones, that's how we all learn. I'm always happy to share. That's why this site is so successful; we all share the good, the bad, and the ugly.

I agree, I had kept a leopard gecko for five years prior to starting a breeding project and being active on forums, and I thought I knew all there was about leopard geckos. Now, I think I've been a member for about 3 weeks, and what I have learned here pretty much doubles the knowledge that I had before. Who better to learn from than others' personal accounts and experiences :)
