FINALLY Got a Job I like!

For the past few months I had been sitting around, being depressed about not having a job and not going to school. I had been putting in applications and sending my resume all over the Atlanta area (probably over 150 places), however I could never find a place that was hiring, or, if they were hiring, it was for a warehouse job where I'd be working myself to death. After hurting myself really badly at my last "warehouse" job, I've decided I'm too clumsy for that arena.

Wednesday the 4th I get an e-mail from a woman at the law firm that a woman from church works out (turns out the woman from church, who wanted my resume 6 months ago or so, was the Director of Human Resources.. who'a a known?). She sets up an interview with me, I go in Thursday the 5th.

She calls me on Monday the 9th, and tells me to start Tuesday. It's $13.46 an hour (roughly $28,000 a year).

There is 6 bonuses throughout the year: 4 quarterly for making the quarterly profit goals, 1 end of the year, and 1 performance. 401k, health insurance (after 3 months), all that good stuff. Plus, I got to pick out my own schedule (8:30-5:30 Monday-Friday). I got my own office, my own computer, and it's a desk job! (yay for desk jobs!)

Anyways... I'm excited.. Yay! :main_thumbsup: :main_thumbsup: :main_laugh:

Congrats Josh. I definitely know the feeling. My resume has been sent out to so many people I can't even recall where it's been. I just went through three interviews with a company and I'm waiting to hear back from them now. All the jobs I've been finding though have been $8.00 p/h and more times than not second or third shift. Hope this job goes well for you!

The job in itself is titled "Paralegal Assistant". I work on a 3 person team. Paralegal Assistant, Pre-Suit Paralegal, and Litigation Paralegal -- then the various attorneys. I satisfy liens, make files, file the files, send stuff to the court -- pretty much all of the things that everyone else doesn't want to do, lol. It's easy, just have to remember a ton of specifics. If it's not dead-on, then the court will send it back, keep our filing fee, and make us redo it and pay another filing fee.

Last quarter they were $38,000 or so off of their goal. If we make the goal this quarter, we get both bonuses because they were SO close. This quarter our goal is $4,500,000.

We have been in this quarter for 3 weeks, and we have already made $2,626,000 and some change. So we need less than $2,000,000 (in 2 months and 1 week) to make our goal, and we get both bonuses!

Sounds awesome! What's Katie's mom think now?!

She's happy for me, but she seems kind of upset. Since she stopped teaching 16 years ago - she's had to basically start all over. So when she gets a job she'll be lucky to get $32,000 a year with a 6 year degree. I'm 19 - unschooled - and I'll be making $4,000 less, excluding bonuses.

Unless you live where I live...then that's nearly poverty for a family! LOL....I don't imagine you have a family yet at 19. Do things right and that can take you a long way!

Awesome! Wish I could get paid that much doing what I'm doing. Ha. But what you're doing doesn't sound too bad. Sounds kinda neat. Do you plan on going to school for law or business or something. bet that would help your odds at ... well whatever... ha.
