Hey there peoples!
was just wondering if you would use the same water - medium ratio when using fine vermiculite? and if so could anyone give me the measurements (preferably in grams or something lol) that would work in one of the small plastic boxes you get crickets and mealies in please? :main_huh:I know its a lot to ask:eek:

Thank you in advance :D

The ratio for vermiculite is 1:0.8 (vermiculite:water)

So for example. You have 20g of vermiculite. You'd need to add 16g of water.

To calculate that you multiply the weight of your vermiculite by 0.8. The number you will get it the amount of water you need to add the vermiculite.

Hope I could help =]

Actually that is the ratio for perlite... Perlite and vermiculite are two differeny substrates with two different functions...

There really is no water to substrate ratio for vermiculite... Usually what people do is they soak the vermiculite and squeeze it until no water drips from it...

I agree with gregg it doesnt even have to be that precise.Get a container of vermiculite and soak it in water.Grab the vermiculite and squeeze real hard till no more water comes out. When u pick up the moist vermiculite it should crumble apart.it should barely be moist.,Or u can do like they said in the above posts and actually measure it
