I've never seen that color pattern. I might call her a "smoke" or the more descriptive "hyper melanistic."

Granite would be a better term to match with what the rest of the herp world uses. Forget my first post.

That thing is funky (in a neat way)! It almost looks like a hybrid.
Thats what I thought at first. I did some research and it does not look quite like a hybrid and it has a full crest. So I think a hybid is ruled out for this one.

I am still looking at crested photos to see if I can find anything similar.:main_robin:

The head structure just reminded me of one a little. It definitely looks different that the one Lance posted, but maybe there can be a lot of variation? Do you know what the parents were supposed to be? Let us know what the members at Pangea have to say.

Ya know Mel, I am not a Rhac expert so I could be wrong but I have seen a bunch of Crested x Chahoua hybrids and they have no crests and even the 25% Chahoua/75% Crested hybrids have very diminished crests that do not extend down the dorsal. Another thing seen in the hybrids is that they all have that velvet skin like R. chahoua.

I never saw one like that before, id say its a hybrid of some sort but if not, that is an awesome new morph!

She did not look like this a few days ago. This is after her 2nd good shed since she has been in my care. Up until 3 days ago, I thought she was going to be a patternless brown/olive crested. She fired up after her shed and looked like this ever since..

not a new morph but probable a rarely seen color variety, or combo of colors our eyes are seeing . not a new morph unless you can test breed it to see if it replicates.IMO

Someone posted some cresteds for sale on kingsnake not long ago that looked kind of like this one and they called them camo. I kind of think it is a very dark brindle. Awsome gecko. I want one.:main_cool3:
