First Leopard Gecko set up

Hi there ! I’m looking for some tips on a Leopard gecko set up. I currently have a Tank with dimensions 30inx12inx12in

how much surface area should the heat mat cover ?

what is the best bulb for UVB? I’ve read that though not absolutely necessary, 2-5% UVB is beneficial. However I can’t seem to find much info on what bulbs give off that amount of uvb.

The enclosure size is fine. Most people feel that the heat mat should cover 1/3 of the enclosure. I go for the Zoomed rated for 10-20 gallon tanks. I actually prefer the Zoomed heat cable that you can tape and re-tape (use Nashua tape available at Home Depot or equivalent to tape). You would need the 14 or 25 foot size. Ebay is the best place to get it at a good price.
Check out Zoomed 5.0 florescent tubes and also compact florescents. I can't tell you much more; I don't bother with lights for my leopard geckos.
