WELL!!! first off i want to say hello everyone !

I am here for advice and help in understanding all the different possibilitys when it comes 2 breeding leopard gecko's ,well 2 make it easier and more specific im looking for help on what to expect when breeding the animals i currently take care of.
I know this is my first post but i have been a long time reader of the forums and keeper of reptiles! breeding some like cuban ,blue and green anoles and tokay geckos once.

I never gave much thought to the idea of keeping leopard geckos due to a lack of understanding of how interesting and colorful they can be ...untill this past weekend i went to the daytona reptile breeders expo!!!!!
i started by looking to buy a mate for my girlfriends female leopard gecko (a Blazzing blizzard )and ended up buying 2 of my own !
A female enigma het albino of some sort and a male tangerine het aptor i was told.

however i do not know if thats the truth lol

i have a basic understanding of how the genes work when it comes 2 breeding leo's !! however i do not really know.. what they look like other than the kind u see in pet-co and such ...

what i want to know!!! is what to expect from breeding this male tangerine with amazing adult color and pattern with this wild enigma or the tangerine with the BB ... also is it even a bb?!

Is anyone currently breeing enigma's with tangerine's? or tangerines with blazzing blizzards?

Im sorry for any mistake in understanding of the subject i may have here im only looking for feedback and perhaps pictures of what to expect?

now here is the good stuff! pictures

They are beautiful geckos. For a start, go to leopardgeckowiki.com and read up on your morphs. As far as I can tell from your post, all 3 of your geckos are het for albino, hopefully the same albino strain. That means that any combination will produce some albinos. The enigma is dominant, so some of its offspring will be enigmas. The tangerines together should produce some nice colors. The blizzard is recessive so the offspring will be het for blizzard and it will take another generation to get blizzards. The wiki will tell you what an aptor is. After you take a look at all that, if you can ask a more focused question, I'm sure lots of us will answer.

thank you very much :]

Also i thank you for the info

i am a bit confused when u say the tangerines together should produce nice colors... i only have 1 the male i did post several pictures but its just cause he's my favorite haha

I do wonder about this enigma and the tangerines particular designs if there are any traits that i should expect 2 see in the young?

also i was wondering if anyone can tell me by looking at my photos if the discription is correct

i belive i have a blazzing blizzard .. but i have no idea it was sold as a lecestic or somthing like that?

a enigma with somthing els mixed into it ... i was told some sort of albino? is there anyone looking at these pictures who can tell if this is correct?

and then the male who is tangerine perhaps het with aptor or raptor .. im not sure ,is there a way 2 tell by looking at these photos?

There"s no way to look at a leo and visually tell what it is het for. personaly i would only pair up geckos that carry the same albino gene. Your het raptor has tremper albino genes in it. do you know who you bought the Enigma from maybe they will be able to tell you which albino strain it carries. Or do you still have the container it came in, it might say on it.

first off ... awesome icon picture! and thank you ,thats what i figured but i really am still learning

and are you saying the tangerine IS het raptor and u can tell this ??and it has tremper albino ? OR saying if it is het for raptor it will have it?

yes i do remember it was a guy named carols bona! incredibly helpful breeder at the show i do have his card some where.. amazing geckos maybe? idk

I bought the tang for 50$ and the enigma for 40$!! he cut me a deal i was broke haha

i wonder if he will even remember the one im talking about? he specialized in tangerines and had hundreds of them

If the Tang is het Raptor or Aptor then it has Tremper albino genes, thats what the "T" stands for in R.A.P.T.OR. I would e-mail the breeder and see if he could help with the genetics in the Enigma. If there was a series of numbers on the container this will help him in finding the gecko in his records. if not send him a picture that might help. maybe you'll get lucky and he only works with one type of albino in his Enigma groups. Good luck. :main_thumbsup:

Thank you for the info again
i have been doing much reading at gecko wiki !

i do have some questions id like breeders info on still if anyone is up to it!:main_thumbsup:

After doing much more reading i have come 2 see that tangerine and enigma is a highly desired match making many different colors patterns and types .

My question is when breeding HET aptor and het tremp enigma is it true i am likely to produce some very unique and valuable geckos during my season?
or at least have a real possibility?

Also im wondering about breeding this tangerine with my Blazzing blizzard
Im not sure what she would be het for as she is bought from a pet store and i dont remember him saying it was anything special ..

Im not sure on what to expect from this other than some regulars with a hint of orange and if im lucky some nice tangerines... is there anything interesting that can come from pairing a BB with a het aptor tangerine?

Also im thinking into the future about breeding the tangerine and enigma baby's with the tangerine and blizzard baby's... Would this be a good match when it comes 2 producing unique young or am i likely to see alot of nothing?

and i did get your pm I will try my hardest to find his card

I do belive his name was carlos bona and his name was amazing geckos or somthing along those lines.. as soon as i find the card i will pm you with the info :]

We have a nice sunglow male from those guys. The tangerines they had were looking good!!! Good luck with your pairings! :) I think the best case senario for the tangerine het aptor X enigma het tremper is an tremper enigma with some good tang influence. Which I believe you would have a 12.5% chance at getting. 25% chance of enigma het tremper. 12.5% chance of tangerine tremper albino,25% chance of tangerine het tremper, 12.5% chance of enigma het nothing and 12.5% of tangerine het nothing. These would all show varying degrees of tangerine influence.

I'm no genetics wizard but i saw this a little different and thought i'd post in hopes that someone will correct me if i'm wrong :D

Possible outcomes:

-Tangerine
-Tremper Albino
-Enigma
-Tangerine Tremper Albino
-Tangerine Enigma
-Tremper Enigma
-Tangerine Tremper Enigma

Beings that both carry the Tremper genes i beleive anything that's not albino will be 66% het Tremper.

Once again please correct me if i'm wrong or left something out. also not sure on %

You're right that anything non- albino would have a 66% chance of being het tremper, I forgot that you can't exactly pin down where the het tremper goes. In which case it would be 37.5% chance of tangerine 66% chance het tremper and 37.5% chance of enigma 66% het tremper. Also I think that tremper enigma is synonymous with tangerine tremper enigma in this case as there are only 6 genetic outcomes of this cross.:D:main_thumbsup:

There are too many outcomes that are albino. The theoretical outcome of albinos must equal 25% or 1/4.
12.5% Tangerine Tremper Enigma
12.5% Tangerine Albino
37.5% Tangerine 66% het Tremper
37.5% Tangerine Enigma 66% het Tremper

I forgot that they would all have Tang influence, this makes perfect sense.:main_thumbsup: Thanks
