wow...just wow.
i just got back from a 6-day fishing trip on the Shogun out of San Diego. it was absolutely amazing. the captain kept us on fish, the crew took excellent care of us and our catch. i learned so much and met a lot of great guys. we spent the first 17 hours traveling to the bluefin area and a few guys got some. just didn't happen for me.the next day found us at Isla Cedros fishing for yellowtail which were plentiful and in the 15 - 20lb range. the next day we went after larger yellowtail and i got a 26lber and had a few that felt much larger, but alas... they either got sawed off or detached themselves one way or another. no jackpot for me. then we went after albacore and i brought in 4 of them right around 25lb each.
my first tuna.

woo hoo, it's edible that's all that matters :D looks like you had fun if nothing else, sometimes it's not what you catch, but what all happens while your catching :D looks like a fun trip.

Sounds like an awesome trip. I have gone on a few day trips out of San Diego and its always a blast out there. How was the weather on the water? (been crazy hot inland).

the weather was fantastic! when we got back to port i thought i was gonna melt. omg. i ended up with 400lb of fish before processing. came home with about 150+lb of prime fillets all vacuum packed by the lovely ladies at 5-star fish processing. needless to say i'll be eating some of the finest sashimi grade tuna and yellowtail for the next year...
