Well i have this ten gallon tank and this week I would like to go out and get some nice tile. Anyway my issue is that I'm horrible with a measuring tape if the thing doesn't measure up to a full inch or half each everything else i'm like HUH. So I would like someone to please tell me what's the floor area of a 10gallon tank. Inside the tank so I can purchase tile.. Lol I sound like such an idiot.

There are 2 slightly different sizes for the inside floor for a 10 gallon. It's a bit less than 10"x20". Unfortunately, Home Depot stopped carrying the sizes that fit best. Go and buy one tile that has a 10" dimension. The tile should actually be about 9 3/4". Put that in the tank and see if the 10" side fits the width of the tank. If it does, you can do the following without cutting tile:

--six 3"x10" pieces. Unfortunately, Home Depot has stopped carrying this size

--two 8"x10" pieces. That will leave you with a strip about 4"x10" to fill. You could use a small strip of repti carpet, or look in the bathroom section and get some 2" tiles to fill in

--go to a custom tile place and see if they can sell you a single 10"x20" tile. I got these on special order for $7 each.

If your tank is too narrow to fit the 10" piece of tile, you're going to have to use 8" tiles which will give you an even larger uncovered strip.

If you can get tiles cut, plan on having tile fill a rectangle 9 1/2" x 19" and cut tile accordingly.
