For adoption - Green Burmese Python

Hey everyone.

This is probably the saddest post I've made in a while.
We need to find a good, loving home for our 3 year old green burmese, Bob. With the financial issues we're having right now and all the red tape it takes to own a burm in FL, we just can't afford to keep him. He will need to be registered and microchipped. He's a very sweet natured guy. He's nipped me a couple times, but it was totally my fault. He's never been intentionally mean. He has a great appetite and eats colossal rats, 2+ pound rabbits and will willingly take poultry. He has been fed in his enclosure, but he is hook trained.

Bob is probably around 8 and a half to 9 feet long and weighs in the neighborhood of about 20 pounds.

Definitely meant for a more experienced handler. He's too big for me to feel comfortable shipping him. Please feel free to contact me if you're interested in taking in our sweet "Bobapotumus."

We just want to know he'll have a good home with someone that will love and appreciate him.

Thanks,
K

Thank you!

After I had given up on finding anyone to take him, I was contacted by the perfect family. He was shipped to Minnesota Monday and we have been given updates daily. It was a bittersweet moment having to pack him up and send him off, but we couldn't have asked for better people to adopt him.

I would have driven over to pick him up if I had found this post sooner, gosh he's a good lookin boy, wish I could have had him. I've only ever had a corn snake, always wanted something bidder though. Anyways, its good that you found him a good home. :)

You know that would have been a terrible idea, right? Jumping from a corn snake to a Burm is a huge leap. :main_no:

I'm glad you found him a home, Brouse!

Thanks, everyone.
The family he's with has a few bearded dragons and a couple corn snakes, too. This is their first experience owning a large snake, but since he's a male and a patternless, he won't get super huge.
The dad had been working with retics for quite some time, so he was quite comfortable handling little 'ole Bob. ;)

You might want to think that people have researched about something before you make a comment like that. I still want to get one & seriously looking at cages right now. I have read up & done my studies. I jumped into leos & I'm just fine. Got all my info from Jess from the time I made the first payment & when she finally got here.

I'm not going to start an argument here but I do want to say that you can do as much research as you want but there's a huge difference between handling a big snake when all the experience you've had before was with small ones.

Jumping into leos is not a comparison.

I still stand by my statement. It's my opinion and you have yours as well, but I don't think what I said was out of line at all. :)

I stand with ya Kasey. Big difference, especially with not big snake experience. At least Bob's new home had previous experience with retics which can be considered medium to large, but still definitely not extra large like these guys. Can't just jump into large snakes and hope to float like with geckos.
