Ok, so I have yet another feeder question for today :)

For those who use more than one feeder, how do you figure out what percentage to use of each? For me, it will be Dubais, silkworms, and Reptiworms/phoenix worms. Dubais will probably be my main feeder, or can I give all 3 in equal amounts?

Of course this would be assuming that the geckos don't decide they REALLY like one and ignore the others. I'm hoping they will eat a variety. With all of my past pets (regardless of specie, though cats being an exception) I have always given a wide variety of appropriate food and it seems to keep everyone strong and healthy.

I often feed based on what I have the most of. The geckos are pretty good at deciding what they want to eat, anyway.

All my leos that prefer a variety of feeders are big, robust animals. The leos that only eat ONE feeder are healthy but not as big as the other ones.

I just rotate feeding schedules. For example: Mon is dubia night, Wed lateralis, Fri Superworms, Sun mealworms, repeat. Or, if you prefer to feed a main diet with some variety thrown in occasionally, just pick one day out of a week(or two week or whatever) feeding schedule and make that "insert feeder insect name here" day. I find that simply sticking to a schedule is the best way to maintain a reptile collection. I use printed sheets that I make up on a weekly basis for feeding, water changes, egg checks, cleaning etc. When I do something on the schedule, I check it off. That way, I have records of all of my husbandry. If something out of the ordinary happens, I make a note. And I follow the same schedule each week. Feeding schedules are the way to go, imo.

As far as "will or won't eat" that just depends on the individual lizard. Obviously if your gecko doesn't eat say, silkworms, you don't feed silkworms. Replace with some other choice for variety. Though leopard geckos are rarely all that picky.

a schedule is a good idea! I am pretty busy since I work, have a kid, and take college classes (just one at a time) so a schedule will make sure everything gets done properly. I'll make it big and cute so maybe my son can "help" (he cathes the roaches for me right now, hehe).
