My girlfriend and I went to the Cheswick show today, not looking for anything in particular other than feeders. But as usual, something caught our eye, this awesome striped fatty male. Its so unusual and sad that we usually only find these guys in very poor health at the show... (something I know Pat and a few others here are hoping to remedy I'm sure :)). We were shocked to find a vendor who had a couple very healthy looking fatties for 15 dollars a piece. Well anyway, I've blabbered long enough, here he is our new fatty Phineus.

Yeah, the vendor we bought him from said he was captive bred... but also said he was a female too haha. So... yeah... either way, we're glad to have him and he is currently quarantined. He's a very nice little fatty and his colors are a tinge more red than the photos make him out to be.

Yeah, there was a new vendor and they added 4 more tables, one of the vendors was actually in the first room right across from the admission table.

Yeah the turtle guy had a much bigger set up in the back room. I went last month too but it was late and everyone had started cleaning up, but yeah slowly but surely the show is getting bigger :)

Oh thought I'd add too the vendor said that the fatties where his kids... and the kids are the reason for the regrown tail.

ahhh, i went early, well not as early as i wanted but i was there around noon. This time of year more and more is hatching so its only going to get bigger. Im looking into AFT's, why do they cost so much more, is it because there arent as many as leos?

Yeah, they're definitely gaining in popularity, but compared to leos there are nowhere near as many fat tails. This attributes to their usually higher cost, but they're not that expensive IMO. Some of the morphs are but a regular fat tail shouldn't be much. Most of the time less than 20 but... most of the time those are wild caught and in real bad shape. Like I said this guy we got was a steal just in the fact that he was in great shape and still only cost this much. I think he could have gone for much more but hey I'm not complaining by any means.

In my local pet store they have one and today i asked to see it, its 45 bucks and that normal looking kind, no stripe, just the two brown colors. Anyway the lady took it out and he went nuts biting her and squirming around. He had a regenerated tail and he drew blood, needless to say i dont really buy animals from that pet store due to their lack of knowledge and care on many of their animals.

It bit her? Wow that's surprising, was she really restraining him or what. I've never seen a mean fatty, they've always seemed so mellow to me.

Thats what i heard, and thats what surprised me too, it bit her a good 4 times and made her bleed. She was just trying to pick it up. She woke it up and got it out of its hide, i just think she startled it and scared it.

They only had two, and the other one didn't look as good as this one. And with a trio of rosy boas on the way we decided against the other one as well.
