Friend or Foe

First off I only wanted one leo and maybe a friend for him
So i got "leo" who died shortly after i got him. he never ate anything.
Then I got "Lilly" then about a month after i got her she stoped eating. This made me scared.
I checked all the books I could found nothing. So i took her to the Vet they found nothing either. They had me put lilly on a slurry food and a liquid calcium.
thats when some peaple told me that maybe she was lonely.
Then a friend at a pet store told me about 2 leos (females) that where going on sale becase they where getting too big.

So thats when I got "Ying" and "Yang". they looked alike and i couldnt tell them apart at the time.
Lilly only sniped at yang once and then nothing. ying became best friends with lilly.

Then it happened Ying Bit Yang. so I checked them. Ying was a male gecko. now theres a scuffle the last 2 nights. then eather they go there separate ways or they follow each other.

Is niping at the tail mating or is it fighting plane and simple.

Lilly just slept during the whole thing.
Now lilly Stares down Ying when he gets near and has no problem with yang. Just today Ying was sleeping with lilly and yang was on the cool side of the cage.
they are getting me confused.

Any help would be nice.

How big are they? Ying might be getting big enough to breed and may want to, but the females might not be ready. Nipping at the tail is usually a sign of wanting to mate. You should probably separate the females and the male. The females should be fine together, but you don't want them to mate if they are too young/small. Hope this helps.

in my thoughts
Yeah is seems like your male is trying to mate with your young/ un ovulating females. either way i would seperate them to keep them at peace and no scarring. I have noticed with some females that when you remove the male from the group the two females with fight against each other( i dont know why) so you might need to seperate all three.
Best of luck

you cant put one female in with two males. Other way around works better and neither will fight each other for the female. One male and one female will breed. Two males in a tank should be fine, without the female there isnt anything to fight for, especially if they grew up together. Two males and one female, not a good idea. I would either take Ying or Yang out. Theyre solitude in the wild unless for mating, so Yang will be fine on his own or Ying.

I would say that 2 males in the same tank could possibly be fine, with a somewhat greater chance if they've grown up together, but there is much less of a guarantee that they will be fine than 2 females.
Good luck,

2 males together is NEVER recommended as they can get territorial and fight to the death.

It is sometimes possible that two males who grew up together will get along, provided they have never been separated. However, it is still a TERRIBLE idea, as you never know when one may become aggressive.

You may pay a little bit more for a second enclosure and more supplies, but is that not worth potentially saving money on vet bills for an injured gecko and burying a dead one?

It's NEVER worth the risk. Keep males separate. I don't want to start an argument, I am not claiming to be an expert. This is just my opinion from the 50+ leos I have had.

Ummm there is only one male “Ying”

“Yang” and “Lilly” are female and they dont seem to fight.

Since I found out about ying, lilly has gotten nicer to yang
how odd

so you all think its him trying to mate then?
