Okay, so my mom went to ******** to pick up crickets for my leos. Upon getting there, one of the employers(she goes there a lot so the employees know her) told he that a frog had come in their shipment of goldfish and they didn't sell that type of frog. they gave it to my mom for free. I have no idea what kind of frog it is, or how to take care of it. it is in a big critter cage right now with rocks on the bottom and a big rock in the middle with water all around so it can go above water if it wanted to. If you guys could help me I.D. it that would be amazing. That way I can give it the proper care it needs.

Thanks!

Emily

P.S. it is still in half tadpole stage...

Its not a permanent cage, its just until we can find a big enough cage. Any idea what size I would need?

It's American if it came in with a goldfish shipment in the states. We get them at my store all the time.

Bullfrogs can get quite large and are going to need a fair amount of space. There aren't really that many good caresheets out there for them. I got most of my information on them from books.

It's certainly fair to say you'll end up needing larger than a 20 gallon tank to start off. You could probably upgrade it as it grows. My coworker has her's in a 55 and says it seems cramped in there, and is now building an outdoor enclosure. Keep in mind these frogs get larger than an adult's hand.

Here's a link to a thread someone posted awhile back with pics of their bullfrog:

You could also google Frog Freaks since they have loads of information on all sorts of frogs. I think they'd be able to help out a lot more when it comes to bullfrog info.

well...would it be able to survive outside if we built an outdoor enclosure? like with the weather and stuff?

It's a wild animal Emily of course it will survive out side it wasn't captive bred or born it was most likely born in a goldfish farm and was harvested on accident with the gold fish.

Sorry I don't know anything about bullfrogs...lol.

ILG: WOW! that was an interesting video lol. ugh I don;t think im going to be able to take care of a bullfrog.....mom won't even buy me pinky mice, do you really think she is going to buy me mice and rats for the frog? blahh...what else can I feed them? Other than the obvious is the video. Like the guppies? Someone told me you can feed guppies...and some sort of fish, I forgot what she called it. Any ideas? Thanks guys:)

EDIT: it dropped its tail finally, and I have a pic. I'll upload it tomorrow; photo bucket is apparently doing maintenance right now and I can't access my photos
