My friend has a box turtle that they were debating on weather it was male or female......... They knew when it layed eggs.

They weren't ready for the eggs, so they woke up and saw some eggs lying in the cage. One was in the water and it never hatched, and another she ripped with her claw. They quickly made an incubater, but none of the eggs hatched.D: Poor turtles.

how could the eggs hatch unless they were fertilized by a male turtle? the way it sounded this was your friend's only turtle, so i don't get the worry over getting an incubator ready for an egg that couldn't possibly be fertile anyway.

Greg is right, if she doesn’t have the male in the cage with her, then it is impossible for the eggs to be gravid, and you might as well just throw them out. However if there is a male in with her, than you should cook them.

Here is how to sex box turtles.
