I woke up this morning and my very healthy 5 to 6 month year old leopard gecko had her head pointed up with her eyes closed kind of looking like she was gagging, but I also looked at videos of puking geckoes and that’s definitely not what she was doing she seemed very uncomfortable. She did it around four times, she’s only ever done this today. There has been no environmental changes in her enclosure or in my house, but there is one slight dietary change on her last feed. I fed her a hornworm , shes eaten many of them before but this one was quite large and long it was about as big as her torso, but it wasn’t thicker than the space between her eyes. I am worried it’s either a respiratory infection or she is trying to regurgitate her last feed. I will attempt to get a video if she does it again. Other then that she has been pooping regularly, seems physically fine and is sleeping under her basking lamp.

If everything else is fine and she doesn't keep doing it, she's probably fine, so keep watch and let us know what's happening.

She hasn’t continued since that day, Im not very worried about it but I do think she got a piece of substrate stuck because she went for some water after.

If you mean the coco fiber that looks like dirt, that's not really a problem for an adult gecko. If you mean something that's got bark-like chunks (I don't think you do, given that it's coco fiber), that could be a problem.

Its more of a fine substance, definitely just the fibre. Theres a couple big chunks but Ive broken them down since. Shes been on this substrate for 2 years now, if theres any other substrate material you suggest that would be awesome! Ive been debating on changing her enclosure to bioactive along with my new snakes.
