Once again I'm providing information about my gecko-related finances for the year in case this is helpful to anyone. As before, these figures do not include expenditures for electricity and mileage to shows and gecko deliveries.

Annual expenditures:
Reptile purchases: $ 95
Food/feeders: $1247
Supplies: $ 541
Misc. $ 167
___________
Total: $2051 (if this doesn't add up it's because I dropped the change)
Annual income:
Reptile sales: $1295
Food/feeder sales: $ 67
Supplies: $ 205
Misc. $ 375
______________
Total: $1942

Grand Total (-$109)

So I have a hobby that just about pays for itself if you take into account the figures I've presented. Guess I'll have to get rich at something else . . .

Ha ha. The previous year I spent $415 so this was a bit of a break. I added to my collection this year primarily through trades and holdbacks.

I do stock up at shows and I do breed mealworms and superworms. I actually breed quite a lot of mealworms, but when I'm heavy into baby season, I can't keep up. Supers are harder to breed in quantity and what I do breed barely scratches the surface. I have a beardie who eats a lot of crickets which is where most of the expense goes. I don't use dubias because that's one step beyond what my extremely tolerant family can deal with. Yes, I know they're tropical and won't infest, but they do get out of front-opening tanks and it's disconcerting to find them in the living room before they've died from the cold.
