dollar tree is awesome!!!!!!! and dollar general !!!

Ever been to Deals?? The other ones sometimes have things over $1... not Deals. I think it is funny that I have all three of those stores in a 2 block radius here at school lol.

I never heard of them either, but Dollar Tree is my fav place, besides wal-mart.

We have Deals in Kansas City. I LOVE that everything is $1. Unfortunately, sometimes I question what happened to all of my money when I leave the store. I mean, if everything was only a buck, how the heck do I always manage to find 25 or 30 things??? The curse of the dollar store :p

I have a couple of different things going on for hides. I have the humid hide made from a wood hide that I broke up to use as a support for a planter of bromeliad plants. Hidey was really fond of that until she moved to the 20 gallon tank & had the magnetic rock option. Eba prefers the "fancy" paper towel tube over the moss lined tupperware container.

i found the easiest and cheapest hides i can make is using pvc pipe. i can make 22 hides for less than $8. I buy an 8 ft length of 4 inch diamer pvc pipe, and cut it down into 8 inch lengths. i then cut each 8 inch piece in half lengthwise and viola. you can see pics of them below:

for my cool hide I got a big rock and leaned a small cardboard lid that I got off a gift box for a wallet against it. My hot is a store bought one but I'm sure I could of been more innovative if I had to. My humid hide is a tupperware container turned on its top and has a hole cut in the side. Vola!

For my dry hides I use Plastic Igloos, the hamster ones they sell at a lot of pet stores. They are around 2-3 bucks each, and it's so darn cute seeing my leos curled up in them!

For moist hides I use those sandwich glad containers from Walmart. You can get a pack of like 15 for 5-6 bucks :) Cut a hole in the top and fill with moist substrate and TADA! Insta Moist hide! :)

unfortunately, it is pretty tricky. i used my table saw with my fence set up at 2 inches (half the outside diameter of the pvc pipe), cutting with an 80 tooth acrylic/plastic blade. then i held it very straight so it didnt spin as i was cutting. the tricky part is when you start getting to the end. the thicker pvc is pretty strong, and will actually try to close the gap you just cut, which can put so much pressure on the blade it will actually stop the blade from spinning (even on my $600 Rigid table saw!). you have to cut halfway then flip it around and cut the other half, although it will still try to grab the blade very tight. when you sucessfully have cut one side, the other side is easy. when you cut it, the pieces will fall apart rather than pull together. I suggest you be very very careful when cutting them as the smallest slip can remove a few fingers if not worse!

How's that for an explanation :main_huh:

If anyone is really interested, i can make some extras and sell them to you at a decent price (material cost plus a few bucks for wear/tear on my blade and my time)
