I thought some of you might like to make some
useful things for your geckos.....so I'm showing a few that are easy and inexpenseive .........and some for no cost at all. I'll pictutre them with a brief description.....need more info?....OK...take care. HJ

(The Gecko OutHouse)

tile or slate floor, for easy cleaning...Salsa bowl upside down (Walmart about 90 cents......Use a drill with a small keyhole sawblade for
an entry hole. They like to potty indoors on warm tile.

The Home Site

Here are 3 sizes of living quarters in nice natural grained wood......Entry holes and some will have feeder stations in the roof.
Again...Wooden salad bowls, upside down.....use a drill with a keyhole sawblade......Sized to fit your tank.

one in use

Walk ways....Step ups.

http://whatsinitforyou.tripod.com/aaforum4
2 in wide tile strips, cut with sissors from a type of wall tile.

Example of use as a walkway. This one from the top of the humid hide to?? whatever. Can use them to built up rock or slate areas to rest on while drinking or eating from the deep bowls.

I call this the Shedder Assistant........made of inexpensive PVC plastic pipe. Many diameters / any size length. Great for all geckos.
Small diameter for babies is really liked. They actually do assist in the shedding process. The geck will go in it and turn circles while rubbibg
the skin off..........try one. ask a plumber for scrape pieces. Can use them as is or saw the them in half and make Half-Rounds so they set flat.

This is the "Gecko Dining Room"..........
It does take a larger size gecko home to put it in use but Worms don't escape. You can feed the worms carrot to keep fit....the Gecko see them any time they forget what a meal worm used to look like.........And they can sneak in for a late night snack and a movie (if you will install one of those little tv sets cause servings
go on 24/7........................
A NOTE TO VIEWERS: sorry about links instead of photos but I could't seem to get them on my Son's computer system......Take care. HJ

What great ideas! I had previously seen someone using the steps/ramp and I have been trying to find where they had bought it since then:main_laugh: and now I know how they did it.

Looks like I have some projects to do now :D

Thank you for sharing these!

Must Tip

On crowded nights, he must tip heavy to the door man. (humor)
It had all glass sides. I removed the trim on one side and replaced the glass with plexi-glass .... cut an entry hole with a key hole saw and replaced it. If you look at the panel to the left side of the photo you will see the entry hole....I may add a second entry hole do to fire codes...(humor).............cost about 3 bucks at Hobby Lobby. I had a scrap piece of plexi......Kinda different...no escape for worms and some one said I should put in small table and chairs.........probably for the meal worms......take care HJ [/COLOR]

Yeah, glad you suggested it. Thanks. I never even thought to photo the saw blades. I'm at another computer now, but I'll get some photos on later. As far as the salad bowls....yes at Walmart. Small one was less than $2. Med. one was $4 something. Large was near $7...With those now I put both entry holes and a little larger hole in the top for a feeding dish. I'll photo that later too for you. Take care. HJ...

These two keyhole blades are 2 1/8 " and 1 5/8 " size diameter.
I use the smaller one for entry holes and the larger one I cut holes for food or
calcium bowl.. That way it makes a flush to use bowl. No need to make a build
up step and also it will hold worms, rather than a shallow dish that allows them to escape...Put a carrot round to feed the worms while your gecko is deciding which is its choice........For the feeder bowls I find that condiment cups work great. (Walmart 25 cents to .89)...............I think I have a photo.

This last bit is a Forsner(think the spelling is close) I use this to make holes but it would be more like calling it a "cave" since you don't have to cut all the way through..It cuts and throws the shavings back out as it drills in...clever looking hiding p;aces on soft natural rocks or soft stone, as long as they are not toxic and cleaned good.. Usually fish shops will have them.....
I may do a soapstone one if it checks out safe. I'll ask one of my kids to eat a piece first before I put it in with the geckos. (little bit of humor)
take care.......HJ

Most hardware or building material stores. Sears. Lowes, Menards, Home Depo, etc......on ebay sometimes in sets. Probably vary by brand, anywhere from $4 to $10 range for a carbide one. You don't need anything fancy to cut most woods........Very likely Walmart would too....take care. HJ
