Great article! I really appreciate and enjoy the "history" behind this new morph and give respect to those hobbyists/breeders who try their best to understand the genetics of their projects before "marketing" them out. The future looks bright!

Speaking of interesting stories, in 2002 when the rainwater patternless albino mutation was still relatively new- I produced a rainwater patternless albino with "snake eyes". At the time, it looked so bizarre and strange (this was before the snakeeye/eclipse gene was discovered by Tremper in 2004) that I culled the gecko due to this apparent "eye deformity".

Also, I saw my first "whiteout" fattail gecko in a private collection of a good friend about 10 years ago. I saw this gecko a few times, as a hatchling and a subadult/adult. The gecko was captive born, produced by captive bred tangerine fattail parents. Although I can't be sure of its genetics, I can say for certain that the gecko was displaying the "white out" phenotype. After the "whiteout" morph was made public and marketed, I immediately called my friend up to inquire and laugh about this "new morph". I'll be the first to admit, I let the whiteout morph slip away because they are amazing! I'm not really sure what ever became of his gecko, we've tried successfully to track her down and honestly if I had just asked him at the time he would have given me that gecko. =( Oh wells! When you're in this hobby long enough, you will have great stories of your own to share one day!
