Gecko trapped in the car. Help!

I bought a used cage and the girl who sold it to me said her gecko ran away. Well as it turns out the gecko was just hiding and he escaped in my car. I feel so bad. He’s been trapped for about a month now, & the last time he was seen was 2 days ago. He’s still alive. I put out food and water for him & sometimes turn on the car heater at night for a little bit. I live in SoCal so it’s not terribly cold. He looks like a dwarf type of gecko like a mourning gecko or something like that, but I’m not too sure of the species. Any advice on how to safely get him out would be greatly appreciated!

The only thing I can think of is to get a cheap plastic or glass enclosure, put some food in there and some water and keep checking. Does the person you got the cage from have any idea what kind of gecko it is? It would be good to know whether the gecko is nocturnal or diurnal so you know when to check. Good luck.
