My gecko has been in his moist hide for 3 days straight. He won't even come out to eat. He normally almost never uses his moist hide. He looks ok but this is really strange behavior for him.

Ren has pretty much been in his moist hide for 5 days straight. Last time he ate was 5 days ago. He came out of his hide for a few minutes Monday night. He ate 2 mealworms but just ignored the rest. He never does that. What's going on?

Just tried to feed him again after taking him out of his hide. He totally ignores the mealworms like he's blind. No reaction whatsoever which is unusual for him. He seems kind of sluggish and dopey. I haven't seen him like this since I adopted him last April. Help!

His eyes are clear. Just that his behaviour changed dramatically the last several days. He's had a huge appetite since I got him last April. He never missed a meal or refused a meal until now. I know him well enough by now to sense that something isn't right.

Maybe he is tired of eating the same thing. Try some crickets. If he won't eat them either than the next step is to make sure his temps are on point.

The temps are fine. I just checked. I don't think that he's simply tired of mealworms. For the last 5-6 days he's not as active. He stays in his hides and doesn't come out at night like he used to.

What's my next step here? The Vet? He's still in his hide. He won't come out. He did come out last night for a few minutes and he ate only 4 mealworms. He usually eats about 15 in one feeding. He's not as active and he just seems different.

Hey I had the same problem! Except my gecko was only in there for a couple of days. All I did was take out the moist hide and after a couple days I put it back in.

For 4 months my gecko would never use the moist hide. Ever. Now he won't leave it even to eat. Something is going on with him.

Well if its to get him to eat, atleast try the crickets if only to get him to eat, i dont know a lizard alive that will ignore a live cricket as opposed to a slow mealy, trust me he needs to eat. Does he gets his vitamins and calcium and such?

I dust the mealworms in Repashy calcium plus.

There is just so many possibilities. Sometimes even small things can cause them to act different. A start will be to try other food items. Look at the lower portion for redness to make sure he does not have any burns. Is he pooping often and does it look normal? what are the temps on both sides?
