Georgia Weather

So I'm not sure how many states can have weather like Georgia does. I mean first off where I'm at, we really only have two seasons. Fall and Spring last all of a week maybe two or three if we're lucky.

But, get this.... This past weekend was crazy!

We start the weekend off with rains on Friday. Saturday morning a tornado that destroys parts of our "sister city," leaving dead horses and cows all over the roads and fields. The weather stayed at a near constant 74F all day. And we wake up Sunday with about 5-6 inches of snow.

Go figure.

Sounds like Florida minus the possibility of snow. One minute it can be sunny in florida and then the next its pouring rain the rest of the day i can't count how many times thats ruined a day out bbqing at a park where you don't have anymore to go under and sit and eat your food and cook it. LOL

New Jersey's been ridiculous too. Everyone got excited because for three days in a row the weather was the warmest it's been all year, super beautiful, and now... Heaviest snowfall of the season. ?! Fortunately it picked Monday, one of my longest, most boring days for classes, so they were all cancelled. :D

Hey, at least you didn't lose power, Whitney. I'm up in Athens, and we were without power from about 2 in the afternoon until 3 in the morning. My house went down to 50 degrees, so I took my leopard geckos, put them into individual deli cups and then put them inside a sweaterbox with hand warmers and actually slept with them all night. I figured crested geckos could tolerate the cold better, and sure enough, they were be-bopping all night with no problems. I'm pretty sure the leopards would've been okay too, but I've got all Tremper albinos and I didn't want them to go 'chocolate' on me.

The power was going in and out of work (I live in Sandy Springs, north of Atlanta) and all the registers were going berserk..was amusing. It was so slow - seems like snow doesn't visit Atlanta very often, at least snow that sticks! The few people that did wander into the store looked like refugees. They had this traumatized expression on their faces and just kind of wandered around before turning and looking out of the windows again to stare at the snow falling.

Haha! Kasey, that's awesome. It was like a holiday up here (and it is, actually, UGA is closed today), and there were people walking around and dodging falling tree limbs everywhere.

There's a sign up here in Athens that makes me laugh every time I see it:

"1/4" of snow? Make sure you have milk, bread, and water!"

i think if i am not mistaken the worse weather changes anywhere in this world will be in season changes "per say" whether you honestly feel a change or not. Its when you will get the crazy weather like cold as sh*t one day and hot as heck the next or for north of fla be snow one day and then it be hot and melting that snow in a messy mess the next LOL.

Hybrid- do you live where there is a lot of tornadoes in OK? I have always wondered how people can live where there is a high possbility for their houses to be torn to bits every year. Though fla has hurricanes but they are nothing compared to what i have seen in damage to tornandoes.

Wow...that sounds crazy! Blue skies and birds chirping in Oregon. Don't worry, tomorrow it will be pouring down rain, and trying to drown us lol.

I grew up just south of Atlanta, Ga . . . I completely understand what you are saying! The weather is just... well... very unpredictable!

Bah, the weather's not unpredictable in the South, no matter what you all say. ^_~ I grew up in the Catskill Mountains of New York. Now that's unpredictable! The weather man for the most part has it pretty good down here, minus the occasional truly unpredictable weather due to tropical storm, hurricane, and severe thunderstorm effects.

Still, it's fun being the only northerner in my neighborhood. I saved three stranded souls today because their cars were all stuck in the ditch. I got 'em all out by myself, although I've got a nice knot on my knee for my efforts. Ow!

Oh, and Hybrid, no worries. After the tornadoes you get in Oklahoma, Georgia truly is a peach. There's also a lot of great breeders around Atlanta. There's Paul of Bright Albino, you've got Hippie Herps, Whitney of GoReptiles, a few good crested gecko breeders who attend shows but don't have websites, and I produce a few extra animals here and again. You'll fit right in!

Snowgyre - I'm with you, I grew up in the Rocky Mountains and the weather can truly be insane! I remember when I was probably in 4th or 5th grade and it was the last day of school - June 6th - and the past week it had been your typical June weather in Montana - hot as heck. But on that day we had a freak blizzard and got several feet of snow.

Fun times. :)

Yes the tornados here are crazy! I used to have awesome pics of the weather before/after but i lost them due to one of my computers crashing.

The tornados here are very unpredictable too, i live smack in the middle of "Tornado Alley".

I cant to move and work there in Georgia. I want to meet you all and attend shows
