I've been thinking about expanding my reptile family, with a leopard gecko. I currently have only a bearded dragon. I would like any general tips and suggestion about leopard gecko care. Thanks.

They are very easy to take care of. :)

Setup=
* 10 gallon for 1 leo
* UTH (Under taank heating pad thingy)
* water bowel
* paper towels or something (no loose substrance)
* at least two hides (more is aways better) ( 1 humid hide, 1 reagular hide)
* lid for the top of the cage
* leopard gecko!

They feed on crickets, mealworms, wax worms ect. You have to dust their food twice a week with calcium d3.

Makse sure not to house males together. They can get into a fight and kill each other. Add 10 gallons every leo. Males and females should only be housed togther if you are breeding them. Females can be housed togther any time. Just make sure to add ten gallons every leo.

Just change their water daily and spot clean. That's about it. :)

Good luck with your future leo!

Here's a pick of my setup. I'm not saying you have to do it just like this but it's just an example.

As you can see I have two dry hides, one in the warm end and one in the cool. A humid hide which is just the glad container with a hole cut in it with moist peper towels in it. Also a low, rather shallow water dish easy for him/her to access, and a little calcium powder dish that has just plain calcium powder in it. I also have a fake plant and a branch but those are just for decoration and are optional.

Hope this helps!

And also I have a digital thermometer witha a probe in their also, forgot to mention that. I don't have a thermometer in the cool end but every once in a while I put the probe in the cool end to check up on the temps there.

I would recommend Brad's set up except I would add an Under Tank heater, instead of a Lamp.

I'll agree with Nigel, but you ideally need a 7 watt light... just enough to help them distinguish night and day without giving off any heat put this on the side with the heat mat... a heat mat is a must if you want the best for your gecko as it keeps there immune systems at optimum and optimum digestion, along with many other benefits... have it taking up around 1/3 of the tank base area... e.g if you have a 30" long tank which is 15" wide, you ideally need a 10"x15" mat or something close...
