Ok, my parents said that if i get good grades and save some money that I could get another reptile but I can't get a snake. this will also be my last reptile for the next 2-4 years. Iv'e narrowed it down to 5 choices: a really nice leopard gecko, a fattail, a leachie, a tokay or possibly even a fire belly skink. now i know they say you can't handle a tokay gecko but I know it can happen and don't mind that sort of challenge. I just wanted your opinion to see what you guys think I should get from your experiences and or from thoughts. also, feel free to suggest any other reptile (except snakes)

THANKS

Tokays have weird colors are fairy big usually get 14 inches. And they make there mating calls well atleast the males do same with the lechies.

Don't expect to be able to tame a Tokay. It can be done, but it takes a patient and experienced keeper. It sounds to me like you should go for a Leo or Fat tail. What is it that you already have?

As stated before Tokay geckos are very aggressive and extremely difficult to tame. Firebelly skinks are also not the easiest lizard to tame. An other suggestion of a large lizard that can be handled are bearded dragons, my two almost seem depressed if they are not handled for a few days. They love to come out and explore or just hang out on you shoulder! What reptiles do you own right now so we can give more suggestions?

Thanks for your suggestions! Iv'e canceled out leopard another leopard gecko... and skinks. and thanks khrysty i hadn't even thought about cave geckos, but I guess my questions are for the CCGs is can they be handled and are there captive bred ones as well? As far as bearded dragons go, I have three and they have so much personality!!! If you guys have any other suggestions that would be awesome!

My next venture in reptiles is either going to be a blue tongue skink or a Mali Uromastyx! You can check out them.

those are awesome!!! I heard that uromastyx a lil harder to care for though and love blue tongue skinks but I've been told their extremely lazy.

I would also vote Blue tongued skink. Since you have experience with leos and beardies and you want something that can be handled, I would think a BTS would be a good next species. I would also argue against tokays. They are my favorite geckos, and I have 14 of them, but I will tell you that taming them is not something for beginners(or anyone who lacks nerve, lol). They also require a very good ability to read reptile body language, and I would consider experience with something a bit less likely to react badly to mishandling before you tackle the tokay.

Blue Tongued Skinks, African Fat tailed geckos, Sudan Plated Lizards, Uromastyx, Snieder's Skinks, Leachies, crested geckos, gargoyle geckos, etc all make good "second step" lizard species and generally tolerate handling fairly well.

OK, I have really been looking at cave geckos a blue tongue skinks, and have a few questions. first off do blue tongue skinks really recognize their names? my second question is were can you buy a captive bred CCG? and how much do they cost?
