Same here... I am certain it is not a co-dominant gene... I am almost 100% it is sub-species/locality spacific genetics at play here with the giants... I am also pretty sure of the subspecies responsible for the "giant gene"...

you think ;)

Herp encounter... SG X SG gave me a few average sized geckos:main_lipsrsealed: no more on this matter for me.

Very interesting stuff for sure, I have never heard that before

:main_yes:This certainly makes sense to me.... So, hypothetically, what subspecies is of "giant" stature?

I believe they are actual "morphs", but don't agree with the genetic claims from my findings. I don't believe ALOT of people's genetics claims to be honest.... :main_laugh:

let's just say I bred 2 SG females, and 11 "giant" females last season and most of those breeders are GONE.

Giants are a load in my opinion and Paul's breeding results are more or less evidence.

Gregg and I talked about that site last week... laughable at best if you ask me. The afghanicus image alone tells the tale.

Thats what I was thinking to. But when you start to read things that contradict
what you think you all ready know you start to question things.

The Pics of the E Angramainyu was a patternless.

You would think that if people were going to go through he trouble to build a info site they would at least have researched their info a bit.:main_huh:

So basically.. you could have "Giants" or "super Giants" and still not even produce Giant or Super Giant babies..? What makes it different from having a large gecko that makes big babies?

I think its the actual overall look of the animal and not just the size... If you look at a lot of the leos available, they all show different "subspecies" traits... These are passed down in the gene pool and pop up at random... The thing with the giants is that I feel the gene at work is more than just a subspecies thing, but I do believe the gene originated in E. angra-mainyu (Just for the record, this is not proven fact, it is just my theory) and from what I have seen it does not act co-dominant in any way...

As far as that site goes, I think the web would be a better place without it... LOL... They have like one actual sighted description... LOL... I think the site is not worth the cyber space it was written on...
