This is godzilla. I picked him up yesterday. He's going to take some TLC. I can tell that he's not used to be held.

WOW thanks everyone! I had no idea that I picked up such a great gecko; I just thought he was pretty and looked very healthy. All I know is that godzilla is 1 year old and the owner of the reptile shop said something about him being "melanistic"? Not sure what that even means.

I believe these are commonly referred to as Hyper Melanistic, since true Melanistic would mean that the gecko is completely black. Some breeders trying to get a completely Melanistic gecko have names for their particular line, "Black Velvet" being probably the most popular.

Amanda, with some selective breeding, you could be on your way to having your own line of Hyper Melanistic geckos. Time to start thinking of your line name. :main_evilgrin:
