Going On Vacation, What should I do about eggs in the incubator?

I am going on vacation in a week or so, for a week. It's a 3 1/2 hour ride. I will still have 50+ eggs in the incubators. What should I do? Do you think I should take them with me? Would they make the trip? I have a Friend of my son coming to feed and water, so that is not a problem. But I am not sure if I would trust him to take care of a hatch-ling. I am afraid that something may go wrong.

A week is kind of a long time to have a bunch of babies stomping around on the eggs. Do you have any sense of when the eggs are going to hatch? If you think the first ones aren't due till the end of your vacation, leave them. If you're expecting a bunch you can either take it with you (someone on the forums a few years ago traveled from the northeast to FL with the incubator plugged into the cigarette lighter of the car) or you can find someone trustworthy to remove the babies. If you take it with you, you will have to heat, feed and house any babies that are born on the trip. If you can get hold of a second incubator and know which eggs are going to hatch while you're gone, you can take just those eggs with you.

i have a few that are scheduled to hatch that week. I never thought to plug them into the cigarette liter, thats a good idea. I could also make a travel tub with heat tape and a thermostat for the hotel room. Thanks guys.

If it's just a 3 and a half hour drive, you could come back halfway into the week and check on everything. That way they are no more than a few days or so unattended. We have some due to hatch anytime and will be gone this weekend for a show, so I separated all the clutches into small deli cups on moist spaghnum so it would be like a moist hide if they do hatch. They'll be fine for a couple days. Or you could take them along as Aliza said.

Do you keep the eggs separate or by clutch in a deli cup? If you keep them by clutch I would not worry to much they will not eat for about 3 day or so after hatching. It is a tough choice though. Is it a full 7 days you will be gone?
