I was wondering if someone could recommend a good frog for beginners. My grandson wants a frog very badly. He is 7 years old so he will have help from my daughter caring for it. I will make sure that he gives it proper care. We just want to get him something that is easier to care for to start out. He has a fit over the tree frogs whenever we take him to a show but I wasn't sure if that was a good choice. We will of course do the research before we buy. I was just hoping for sugestions.
Thanks

green tree frogs stay small so you won't have to spend as much money on the tank. they're pretty easy to care for. personally, i find them a little boring though. they're not really active in the day time.

The dumpy tree frog is a good choice in my opinion. They are very docile, not very fast and pretty easy to care for. They dont get massive but they arent small either. You should look up them, also known as White's tree frog.

Thanks. I will look them up now. We bought him a 18X18X18 ( I think) vivarium for whatever he gets. Would that be too small for a white's tree frog?

I started out with Leucs which are dart frogs. Very easy IMO and cheap to feed if you can culture your own fruitflys

We got him a white's today and he absolutly loves him. He read an AR book called Mr. Froggy the big fat frog and that what he named him, lol.

I told him he needed a better name and he explained that it was a very good book and Mr. Froggy should be honored to be named after a famous book.....you can't argue with that logic!
