good bye african chiclids

i wrote already in the fresh and salt water fish part but bottom line is all but 2 or my chiclids are dead because my tank heater went nuts and sent the tank to hot tub mode .. i had 9 chiclids and am down to 2 with a few of their babys.... sux:eek:

it was a marine land heater .. which shocks me because thats pretty much all i use.

Sorry for your loss. I had a similar situation a few years ago when my 90 gallon All male peacock tank loss power to the heater. We had a 2 week period with no power due to an ice storm. There went 400 dollars of fish...

That's so sad. I had a tragedy with my 125 gal a few years ago that almost put me off the hobby for good. While I was away one weekend, the tank cracked along the bottom and flooded my living room. Not only did I lose my two Oscars (which were my babies) to a horrible gasping death, but it cost over a $1000 in water damage to our floor.

thanx guyz! i got a few new ones and i got a really nice acei chiclid and a bumble bee and a few others .. i had a jack before in another tank set up super nice but he would beat up on the other fish like hardcore

Just something you may keep in mind is that for african cichlids over filtration and numbers are your best friends. Big numbers keep the aggression spread out where they will not pick on just one.
