Right went to the vets, he said I will need at least 3 stool samples to get a proper indication, I have 2 stool samples at the moment so waiting for the lil gecko to give me another :) Also he said it will cost £70 for the test :( SOOO much more than I thought it would be and would take a week to get back to me. He seems to be getting worse as well, a cricket got into his tank by accident (only a small one), didn't even notice until I saw him going for it **ahhhh**, anyway after missing at least 3 times he gave up :( He ate 2 wax worms the day before yesterday and I put in another one yesterday but was still there this morning when I left for work :( Going to get a blender today and try blending some food together and feeding him like that. Running out of options at the moment and starting to lose hope :(

A bit better I guess, he's still extremely skinny, have stopped with the baby food and he's eaten 5 mealworms in the last 3 days (not too bad considering), the vets called to say he has salmonella - I pick up his antibiotics tomorrow morning and the vet said should clear up in a weeks time, and he will start eating (hopefully), ordered small crickets from pet shop near me and pick these up tomorrow. He wont eat the wax worms at all (which I thought was a lil' odd) but never mind.

Animal shelters

dim&shell said:
As some of you know, I have been a bit concerned about a baby gecko that's in my local petshop (the one I go to, to get my crickets)... Well after some help from my friends (donations of a tank etc) I am going this afternoon, to RESCUE it, I know that the stress isn't good but I can't leave him in there when every week he just looks worse and worse. If any of you could give me any advice on how to get him back to healthiness, please let me know e.g. food, substrate etc?

I will try and take some pictures tonight and post them tomorrow...

Wish me Good Luck :main_thumbsup:

I used to work in an animal shelter when I was younger and when I found out what they do to animals I left. I was never told there were dead animals in the trash bin and it was so high I could never look down inside. I was a small kid back then. I just asked what I was burning because I wanted to know. (I was lighting matches and throwing them in the trash bin). I was setting dead animals on fire and did not know it. I didn't know at first, until I asked. I thought I was burning trash but I wasn't sure what it was. When I was told dead animals I said what the hell and walked out very mad. I never went back and I never worked at a place like that again. I know the animals were dead but to not tell me and I had to find out about it later on. I left my work in tears and cried a lot and to never return. Glad I asked.

Bad shelter gone!

Oh yea this place I used to work for as a kid was shut down and I was very happy the day I found out. I was like that is what they get for not telling me about what was in the trash bin. Yea if I knew right away, which I didn't I would have said goodbye.
