Got some tile

I went to the hardware store today and bought some tile. Should I worry about cleaning or baking the tile before I put it in my tanks? Since it's made for interior stuff, it shouldn't have parasites or other ickies on it, right? If I should clean it, how thorough do I need to be - i.e., soak it in diluted bleach or just give it a wipe down?

what size tank do you have? and did you have to cut the tile?

We found a tile 8x24 i think it was and it needs to be cut a lil, hoping my father inlaw has his tile cutter still.

Ok, gave it all a wash with hot water and dish soap and then a good rinse just to be safe. It was kinda dusty so it at least needed a rinse to get the soot off. The geckos seem to like it and are still busy exploring, hehe. :)

Lovey - my male is in a 10 and my female is in a 20 long. I bought several packages of 4x4 slate tile and a sheet of 2x2 as well and then arranged it all to fit. I don't have any cutters or anything so I had to use smaller pieces.

Hmm, how many did you use in the 10 gal? and did you use anything to hold them together? Or just in loose? I was scared of Fred getting stuck in the cracks. I'm not sure if that happens often or if at all...but I worry a lot about everything LOL That's why I thought we should go with the one solid tile. So there are no cracks.

I used 10 of the 4x4 tiles and 10 of the 2x2 tiles. I haven't sealed them with anything yet... Don't know if I should or not, or if I should, what I'd seal them with. I want to make sure I can still remove them if need be, to clean underneath. I don't think my geckos could get stuck, they're bigger so I don't worry about them slipping in the cracks as much as I would with a baby. The tiles are pretty snug and don't seem like they could be moved by the geckos.
