I have heard about the moat but, I have not started to that yet.

Oh, by the way, you already have mites in your bed and pillows.

They are just not grain mites.

Facts about grain mites 101, with your Teacher Norrad

Grain mites are from the arachnid family.
They have a very short life span.
They are very prolific breeders, with the females laying 800 eggs.
The can not survive in humidity less then %50.

They do not harm your mealworms. They do not “harm” you in a matter of speaking. What they can do is cause a very nasty rash in humans also referred to Bakers Itch (I know this personally…). For two cookies and a glass of milk I'll tell you how to get rid of the rash

You do not have to toss out your whole colony and you do not have to bake the bran. Cut down on the humidity and they will die off.

I raise, sell, and feed off a lot of mealworms, superworms, roaches, and rodents so I've seen a few things and learned a few tricks along the way
