Facts about grain mites 101, with your Teacher Norrad :)

Grain mites are from the arachnid family.
They have a very short life span.
They are very prolific breeders, with the females laying 800 eggs.
The can not survive in humidity less then %50.

They do not harm your mealworms. They do not “harm” you in a matter of speaking. What they can do is cause a very nasty rash in humans also referred to Bakers Itch (I know this personally…). For two cookies and a glass of milk I'll tell you how to get rid of the rash :D

You do not have to toss out your whole colony and you do not have to bake the bran. Cut down on the humidity and they will die off.

I raise, sell, and feed off a lot of mealworms, superworms, roaches, and rodents so I've seen a few things and learned a few tricks along the way :)
