So i was told to like rotate my female, three days with a male, 3 days without. Well after three days i took her out. Its been about 6 days now, she just shed and seems a little larger, but no visible eggs. Can females be gravid this late in the season? I mean i know breeding can last all year but is it usual to have eggs this late? When will i start to see the eggs in her stomach if she is in fact gravid?

One of mine is still gravid. She started a bit late, laid 2 clutches, took a month break and here she is again.

If she was ovulating and the deed took place it is very possible she could be gravid. 2-6 weeks it can take to Lay eggs. I have females that are starting to ovulate and will be going in with the male soon. Good luck hope you get some eggs.

Justan, yes! and congrats! I get eggs almost year round, some of my projects start in early january and some start in late June. Also, I find it best to move the male in with the females, so you stress the females less.

Do you assist this with cool-down periods or do these occur on their own? Did it occur with the onset of maturity or with the initial mating introductions?

Thanks.

No cooling, and maturity--I won't put a male with a group unless ALL the females are ovulating. I've had to pull the occaisional female because she just wouldn't cycle with her cagemates. I have one group of 4 females where each one came from a different breeder--strange enough, they all ovulate around the same time?!?
