Green Leopard Gecko

My friend had a bright grass green colored leopard gecko that sadly passed away. I can't seem to find any information on a green leo like that anywhere. When he bought it from the pet store they told him it was a wild type. Anyone have any info?

It wasn't a day gecko, it was a leopard gecko. I held it in my own hands. I'll ask him if he has any pictures of it. This was before I knew about different morphs and I thought it was normal. It was bright green with the signature leopard gecko tail.

Trust us, It wasn't a leopard gecko. It had to be some other kind.

I realize it is hard to believe, hopefully he has a picture, but the whole reason I got a leopard gecko is because of that one. While I was researching them before purchasing, his died. We are both vet school students, hopefully he took some pictures during the necropsy or while he had it.

Could it have been a New Zealand Westland Green or Northland Green? There's also Wellington and Nelson geckos, but they're all NZ geckos I don't think they're importable...so... I have no idea how a pet store like that would get one.

My bets are on day gecko or tokay gecko. Mostly day gecko.

My money's on either a mislabeled grandis or this guy coming back with some ridiculously bad photoshop job. He might be kicking it old school though and have a photo of a leopard gecko that had been dipped in easter egg dye.

Oh goodness. If he has a photo it won't be photoshopped, it may be a cell phone picture though. We have finals this week but I will ask him anyway. Once again it was not a day gecko, it had a black and white banded and spotted tail just like a leopard gecko. Man, I hope he has a picture....

I have seen some crazy things come out of a lab room so I don't doubt it. When the first super giant was bred everyone said "prove it".
