Hi All

Greetings from deepest darkest Africa.

I'm actually a collector/breeder of Ball Pythons here in South Africa, but for a little bit of fun I got a Leopard Gecko about 2 weeks or so ago.

He's a great little fellow

I'm not sure if it is a she or he yet, and I've got no idea whether it is a morph of any kind, the reason I picked this one was cause it was the only one in the bunch that had grey eyes.

Once I know what sex it it then I will be looking at getting a partner.

Currently he is feeding on crickets and mealworms, 5 crickets and 5 mealworms a day on average, all dusted with calcium powder. He is happy to take food from my fingers which I think is quite cool.

In his cage he's got a warm side at about 90F with the cool side at ambient temps. He's got a hide on each side of the tank and an additional humid hide on the warm side. His substrate is medium jungle chunks.

I"m not planning on having a bunch of Leos, but then again I thought the same when I got my first Ball Python, and now I'm sitting with 13 of them.... so we'll see how it goes

welcome to gecko forum! his set up sounds great although i would take him off the jungle chunks and put him on paper towel or tiles as s substrate :)

from what i can see your little gecko is a normal :D
and from this angle looks female (but it could just be the angle)

RE - The jungle chunks - I have watched him when he eats and he is no swallowing any.

I do keep my ball pythons on newspaper, I assume that this would work fine as a substrate for my Leo.

What about an astroturf type substrate? The guy in the shop said not to use because it is quite rough and harm my Leo as it is so young.

A REAL PASTEL! Oh my goodness, i'm in love. You see so many ball pythons these days that look like normals and the seller calls them pastel. But that snake really IS a pastel. Very, very nice. Oh and I want the pied. And the spider too. Heck, i'd take them all. :main_laugh:

Hi All

Thanks for the great welcome.

Yep, my Pastel Female is a real sweetie, she is a year old now but still looking good.

Problem you have with Pastels is that they do brown out as they age, I'm hoping that she just stays the way she is cause when I plug the Spider into her they are gonna make some awesome bumblebees. But time will tell how she does.
