I needed some mealworms, so I ordered from grubco. 13.70$ for 1,000 large shipped isn't bad at all IMO. Anyone have any good (Or bad) experience from them? I'm in Central FL so hopefully they'll come here from OH in good shape, it's been cooling down lately anyways.

I was just about to order from Grubco myself. I also live in Central Florida. I was ordering 1000 so it said the cost with shipping was $12.70 6.50 for the worms and 6.20 for the shipping.. However further down the page I read

For zones 5-8, Alaska and Hawaii, call for delivery charge otherwise we will calculate the shipping charge, charge your card, and ship your order. Please see map to determine your zone.

Here is the map...

We are in zone 5 here in florida.. So does that mean our shipping rate is actually going to change from what it was when we ordered it??

We have used GrubCo many times and the worms are great but the packaging isn't my favorite. The use cloth bags with newspaper in them. I really like NY Worms or Reptile Food when ordering my supers for they pack in boxes with egg crates.

minimoe, I noticed that too. Since we're only in zone 5, hopefully they won't charge more than a few dollars, if they do charge at all.

eitherway if we order today then we should get them wednesday right?

Apparently not, I found another page on their site. It said that for zones 5-8 they will only ship on Wednesday 2nd day air. Meaning the package will probably arrive Friday. As long as I get a package of healthy worms, I'm fine. I can say I'm a little dissapointed with grubco though. Many people believe that the cheap shipping shown on the checkout is what everyone gets, but apparently it only applies for zones 2-4. Which is only a small percentage of the customers that live near Ohio. From doing google searches, many people come out with a supposively cheap reciept. But after the order ships they are magically charged an extra 10-20 dollars. HOPEFULLY they won't do that for me...but I'm expecting something I won't like just incase. If anyone who has ordered from grubco that is in zones 5-8, please tell us your experience!

I am in zone 5 being in the panhandle of texas. yes the shipping is roughly $20 where the worms I buy are only like $14. so you are going to pay more for shipping. I hope this helps

Ugh, oh well. How long did it take you to get your worms, and when did you order? It sucks I have to pay more, but as long as the worms as healthy it's OK I guess.

I used Grubco for my last bug order and it was cheap. Everything was fine but I have seen healthier bugs from my previous orders with "Timberline Fisheries". I also like how Timberline packages their feeders. http://timberlinefisheries.com/
This is a plus for me... they ADMIT their site isn't secure, so you get to give your credit card info to staff over the phone. I've had my identity stolen before and I hate risking paying with my card online (I do trust PayPal though).
