Luna finally decided to lay eggs. Luna is a tremper jungle albino, and was mated with a tremper jungle albino ps het APTOR.

Incubator temp varies from 84-88

84-88 seems like a pretty big temperature swing and could cause problems. There are 2 things that will probably help:

put a cup or bag of water in the incubator to act as a heat sink which will help regulate the temp

If you don't already have it, get a proportional thermostat (search the forums for more info on this) and attach it between your incubator thermostat and the outlet.

I am using a home made incubator that I made from a 28G fish tank.

I put a fully submersble tank heater into the fish tank. Filled with water untill it was an unch above the top of the heater. put two bricks on either side of the heater, and place two rubbermaid containers 3/4 full of hatchrite with lids. The heater has a built in thermometer that is set at 86 degress. but with the humidity and heat in this particular room it is very hard to control the temp inside. I suppose I could try turning down the temperature setting on the heater.

Any ideas on how I can help regulate the temp with this set up?

Would I be better to use this set up in a styrofoam container instead of the fish tank? (I had covered the screen lid with a few layers of plastic wrap).

I use the fish tank incubaton method as well but my eggs are a fully enclosed hood floating. the temp always stays in the 82 range. Maybe if your container wasn't eposed to the air temperature changes.

The styrofoam may work and help put only if their is a lid on it(To keep out the air)

Short of going and buying a new lid......any ideas on how I can simply adapt mine?
