I need some ideas on how to make my 10gal tank into a half land and half water tank for a leopard frog. also any onther info about leopard frogs that you have would be helpful.
I thought about of what you said about getting a bigger tank and i came up with an idea. Making a second level to the tank like what people do with their geckos and putting the bedding on that and having the entire bottom water. A couple questions tho, what kind of paint and water proof sealent could i use that would also be safe for the frog and do you guys think this is a good idea.
I personally do not like the plexiglas divider method for semi-aquatic tanks. In my opinion the tanks look less natural & more artificial because of the right angles. It's also a little more difficult and time consuming. But that's just my opinion.
Good luck
The thing is the plexiglass thing can be realistic if you know how to do it right. Take the plexi glass and set it in as a slant. As that is set and dried for 24 hours take and silicone the plexiglass panel that will be in the water. With the fresh silicon on that, place things like river rocks, small pebbles, cured drift wood for a river effect. There ya go, a bit more realistic.
I myself would just opt to go for a larger tank because if you are going to try and make it bi level you will need to silicon the entire new level in, along with a lip, would be alot more effort and cost you alot more then if you were just to upgrade into a 20 gallon long. And leopard frogs are a pretty big species and really should be in a 15 gallon long or larger anyways.
easy get some rocks or peat blocks and put them in the middle, and fill one side with dirt or other subsrate and the water side with sand or gravel, just make sure the subsrate is about an inch over the water line
