I have a blue-tongued skink I acquired from a teacher last summer. He has been eating very well, on ground beef(cooked), banana, egg white(cooked), blue berries, occasional crickets and superworms(or mealworms), and watermelon. went into semi-hibernation about November and stopped eating. He became active again in the last 2-3 weeks, and still has not eaten, turned down every piece of food offered. He IS drinking water, and peeing and pooing normally. Is there any way to entice him to eat again or stimulate his hunger? Or is he still coming out of hibernation?

any information and/or ideas are welcome :)

Thank you!

EDIT: (forgot the pictures:rolleyes:) here are some pictures I JUST took(sorry for the bad quality)

If he's peeing and pooping normally I wouldn't worry too much. Just keep offering.

He still looks pretty fat- do you have a scale to keep a more accurate measure of his weight? If he's pooing normally you're probably ok.

no, I don't have a scale, but he doesn't seem to be loosing any weight, just not eating. is there any way to stimulate his appetite?

emily he seems to be a good weight but if your worried about him you could try a few things. one would be to mash up some mealies and dab it on around his mouth and two would be offering him a live hopper mouse, I know it sounds bad but blue tounges are active hunters in the wild and the thrill of the hunt may put him into focus

I would also go back to the idea about getting a scale & keeping track of daily weights...this way you can tell if he's losing weight or not & catch the problem early.
