HATCHLING EMERGENCY! Please help...

Hey guys, I just had my second to last egg of the season hatch last night and got some amazing pictures of her coming out. She had some yolk still attached so I kept her on moist paper towels all day today and 'most' of the yolk came off. She still has some of what looked to be yolk attached to her stomach tonight so I picked her up to look at her and I am not sure at this point that it IS yolk, I THINK it may be her intestine coming out... I don't have a picture but I will get one. The reason I think this is because I see blood vessels in the mass, her tummy looks REALLY skinny and the 'belly button' hole is still clearly 'open'.
She is only the second egg to hatch from our favorite momma gecko and no one in the house really wants to think about having to put her down :( is there ANYTHING I can do to help this little one out if it IS her intestine? Any suggestions would be great.

THere is a thread here somewhere about hatchlings with the umbilical hernia and people were saying that you can gently push the intestines back into the abdomen with a wet q-tip and then (believe it or not) seal up the opening with some crazy glue. The person posting (I think it was Chris aka "yellermelon") had had some success with this. I tried it with one this season but she was so skinny that there just wasn't enough material to glue together and she didn't make it. It may be that a vet would be willing to try this as well.

Thank you Aliza... doesn't this always happen though.... you are worried about something with one of your babies (aka pets) and once you finally decide to post and ask for help...... THEY FIX THEMSELVES!!! I was headed to bed and went to check on the little one once more before crashing and the rest of her cord (I guess that's all it was after all) had fallen off and she was hopping around her bin.... She is still REALLY skinny and the hole on her belly is still open but I think she will be fine. *crosses fingers and prays*

How open is it exactly? Having something like that be open leaves it prone to infection...

Hope she's okay!

I'm glad she's better. Keep an eye on the opening, especially when she sheds and poops. Watch for intestine coming out. On the other hand, some of mine have just had a slightly bigger umbilical opening (like 1/8") which has closed on its own within a week.

Well it is clearly 'open' maybe about -- that much but it's just a line not like a 'o' hole so I THINK it should close up on its own. Going to leave her alone unless I see icky stuff on the paper towel and check her in a few days.
