Having A Feeling................

Lately I have been having an urge to get a new family member other than leopard gecko's. I don't want anyone thinking it will be an impulse buy, I will do my research and will save up. I have a 40 g. breeder that will be open, and just want to know what are some fun reptiles. I just want to know what is out there, and the next expo will be in Oct. so I will be able to do a lot of research and save money to properly take care of the possible new addition. :D

Thanks Aries, those are the two that I have been keeping my eye on the most, but I have a question, with a UVB light or tube, can I put it on the screen-top or will it not go through?

I would say either a Savannah monitor even though they will need a bigger cage once they get bigger but they are great or a chinese water dragon they are very sweet as well.

A beardie would be nice, they always look so alert, cocking their heads and staring up at you... But I've really fallen in love with skinks, I adore my fire skink - even if he hides alot of the time. Blue tongue skinks are awesome too, but I don't know much about their care or what size tank they need.

What about a snake? There are some nice ball python morphs out there, or you could go for a blood python (I guess I mention these 'cuz I want one :)), rainbow boa, kingsnake...I guess it all depends on how much experiance you have...

I second the blue tongue skink (mostly because I love mine soooo much). Their tank requirments are very similar to that of a bearded dragon, minus the climbing branches (cause they have the cutest little stubby legs ever!!). They are really friendly and easy to handle.

Beardies are great too and I love my girl, but the skink is much easier to handle.

Lol JordanAng420 , but sadly my mom is scared of snakes, and my dad protects my mom.............. Or I would have that tank with a nice BP. I was asking about the UVB thing because I heard that it won't go through the screen. If I can convince my parents then I could get a baby beardie from a breeder. It is very cheap, they are 25 dollars for a 6 week old baby! I also have a question about those compact UV bulbs, are those ok to use? And would I use a 8.0? or two 5.0's.

The coolest lizards to ever walk the earth are dwarf monitors like Ackies and such... Super active, calm around people, eat in front of you, easy to keep, do not need large cages, and they eat anything you drop in their cage...

BDs and Uros are pretty inactive and kinda boring if ya ask me...

I also like monitors but I don't know if I would be able to bring the temps that high or get a big enough eclosure.........

I want a pair of Emerald Swifts, That would fit in the tank and there really cool looking, rather inexpensive and easy to care for. there not good tho if you want to take it out a lot. Apparently there hard to handle.

my vote is for a uro. we have two and they both are very active. when they are setup right they move around alot, mine eat in front of me, plus i think they are not hard at all to care for.
