My Wife and I were thinking of getting a new car because we need one that is more practical for us, room for dogs and reptiles and herp supplies ie big cages and racks and such. I was wondering how you and anyone else with one is liking it. pross and cons.:main_thumbsup: :main_thumbsdown: :main_robin:
To bad they don't make a hybrid HHR.

I LOVE my HHR.

Pros:
-excellent gas mileage
-decent amount of room
-looks really cool
-smooth ride
-great stock stereo system w/ subwoofer

Cons:
-can't haul a trailer of any decent size
-buttons for windows are in a weird place
-crappy cupholders and not enough cupholders

I totally love the HHR's ... they are roomy and can haul plenty of goods.

I currently own a 2006 Scion xB, and it totally rocks with gas mileage! I drive that thing up and down the California cost allll the time! lol. It gets 33/31 MPG with a manual transmission, and has plenty of storage for almost anything you could imagine.

I have two dogs, two cats, plenty of geckos, and I have a music studio in my home with many different instruments, including a drum kit, and I can fit all of that plus some in the back of the car with the rear seats down.

Pros:
it's cute, and fun to drive
compact
nice acceleration for the size
very customizable
great gas mileage

Cons:
cup holders are a little low
back seat cushions could be softer

anywho... just a thought... good luck in your car search!

Edit: oh, here are two old cell phone pics of my car .. you either love 'em or you hate 'em... lol!

hahahahaha, thanks Matt! ;) It's a special plate that supports 'the arts' in California... I figured I'd go for it since it looks so neat! :)

We have an '06 HHR LT and I have mixed feelings about it.

The major pro is the gas mileage, we average 28-30 mpg in a major, metropolitan city. It also has the largest cargo area of anything in it's class. We have the larger engine option and I think it's a necessary option.

The cons (at least for tiny me) are that the seats are terribly uncomfortable and the cloth upholstery is itchy. The cup holders are below the arm rests which is ridiculous. I think Kelli must have an upgraded stereo in hers. Our regular, stock stereo sucks.

But, for the price, they're a good value. My only advice would be to pay for the upgrade options. Also, consider finding a used '07 or '08 since their resale value is low you can save some money. '06 models had some "kinks" and are not covered by GM's new 7 year warranty.

We thought about trading in our HHR for a Subaru (we had some problems initially with our HHR since it was from one of the first production groups) and found out that it had depreciated $6000 in 6 months. I just got a Toyota Highlander and I don't have a single complaint about the brand. Have you looked at Rav4? They cost a little more but the quality is is worth every penny. A friend of ours has a 4Runner that's about to roll over 500,000 miles and it's never had any major issues.

Our first car perchase. We did it!!

   We found the perfect match and just the right timing for our move to Oregon.
We decided on the HHR and picked it up yesterday. Boy does my wrist hurt. I think I got carpel tunnel just from all the signatures. We could not be happyer. I am still excided I even had to take a peak at it last night befor bed time.:D
Plenty O room to dransport the 2 dogs and for cats on the trip. Now to rent a big van for the herps.
I think it has the same foot print as our old coupe but so much more usable space.
I see what you meant about the cup holders Kelli o well we can live with them.
We decided on the dark gray metallic and I think my favorite thing about it besides the space and fold down rear seats , is the remote start that our model has. Not that I think we will use it that much I just think its kind of cool. and never had a car with power windows.

Ours is dark gray too. We have twinkie cars now! LOL And, yes, you will find a way to use all of the space at some point. We packed almost our entire living room of unassembled Ikea furniture in the back one time. :)
