I'm curious what you guys think about this lil guy... He hatched with his yolk sak still attached and he has a huge bubble under his chin. He's in a deli cup with moist paper towels above the heat. Any other suggestions?

That is odd.. we have been going through something kind of similar, but also very much different: http://www.geckoforums.net/showthread.php?t=20857

Do you think it could be just extra, perhaps flabbly-like skin? I noticed that our little bubble-butt also has some extra skin around the neck area and she tends to puff it out sometimes.. kinda reminds me of a beardie.. it's weird. Her real problem was the bubble on her butt though.

You may need to just take your little one to a vet to see what he has to say, and possibly get it removed.. ???

We had one hatch like that but the bubble disappeared in a couple of days. I think ours was scared out of it's egg too soon, I seen it fly out when the clutch mate stepped on it. I'm sure others has seen this also, I'm curious to know why this only happened on our one. Good luck with yours, I'm sure they will be healthy. :)

Thanks guys. He was incubated alone, so no one scared this little guy out. ;-) And he's got normal weight and size on him, too... I'm not sure what his problem his, but I'll definitely keep an eye on him.

If anyone has suggestions as to how this happened, please chime in.

I have no idea, but he's a cutie! I have a female raptor that I got from Marcia that has a lot of extra skin. It doesn't seem to affect her at all. She's a slow grower, but I don't think it's the skin. Hopefully it will just be something like that. I'm not sure how she looked when she hatched.

You are right, Kristi... the little RAPTOR did have a lot of fluid around her throat when she hatched. The vet said it was most likely lymphatic fluid, and is nothing to be too concerned about. It should go away as it gets absorbed into the hatchling's system, but it could leave some extra skin around the neck.

jsmgecko, do you mean a dewlap? I think that if there is fluid in the flap, it'll go away, but you may have some skin left over around the neck...I don't think it's anything to worry about.
