# days ago I got my first gecko's. Well one of them seemed lethargic, guess jet lag, and would not eat. Well when I tried to feed him today I moved his hide a tad and holy moly he went nuts. I have to say never been scared by anything that small before. lol

After that little flare up I got him to eat some.

so funny.

LOL yeah it scared me too at first, that's too funny :D now I find it to be pretty hilarious.. we had one that would scream constantly, even when his bin was closed, he would scream..lmao.. we named him tornado.. he doesn't scream anymore though, as he has become more and more used to human contact.. now he actually comes up to me when I open his bin :)

Yeah it's pretty cute when they try to look all mean and ferocious!
Scared the crap out of me too the first time. Then I laughed at myself for being scared by a 3 inch long baby leo!! :main_laugh:

Normally, they get out of that stage early in life. And if you move slowly, so not to frighten them, they may never do it, or sometimes it doesnt matter WHAT you do!!

I have noticed that most "hissers" turn out to be male! ;)
I dont know if it's just coincidence or what!?

LOL that's too cute Ruby :) We have one that jumps at us too, but I think it's because he got used to hand feeding.. now when he sees me, he jumps up at my hand with his mouth open, lol

My little bell albino screams at me from time to time, silly little thing. I back off, feed him a mealworm by hand and then pick him to let him know I am not intimidated and screaming is not going to make the big scary hand go away. ;) He is actually completely still and quiet once I'm holding him.

My first gecko never ever screamed as a baby, so he (I THINK it's a he, too young to sex) is definitely a new experience. He bites me too, not that it hurts. I'm sure he will settle down and be calm as an adult. I feed him by hand and in between every other mealworm, I'll run a finger along his head or back to hopefully get him to think hand=food and therefore hand=good.

Its funny that you know its not going to hurt but you still jump when they nip you. I am just glad "Baby Bob" is a leopard and not something with big teeth. With his attitude I would be in deep ****! LOL

Last time I said my gecko never did something before (pooping in his moist hide) he did a few days later... So I will stay away from this... Good luck!
